My Ethos

I believe it's important to have some sort of mission statement which sets out the main principals to how I work. I could at this point list a host of qualities most of which you should expect from anyone working to a professional standard but for me the most important concern is that of communication. Communication is at the core of producing any successful video, from the relationships and understanding built up with the client, the respect with which subjects and crew members are treated; right through to a finished video that effectively communicates its intended message to the audience.

When would I need your services?

I like to think in basic terms and feel that my services best fit into two categories.

Something to Document

If you are staging an event you may benefit from it being documented on video. It may be an event of a personal/family nature or business/corporate. Any event can be documented and part of the joy of such work is that no two events are the same, each come with their own sets of requirements where collaboration with a client and an excellent relationship is essential to the outcome of a project.

Something to Say

Depending upon what message you want to communicate video could be an effective medium. Maybe you have a product or design that needs to be promoted to a particular audience, your message may simply be to educate. As I said earlier each brief comes with its own sets of requirements where collaboration with a client and an excellent relationship is essential to the success of a project.

What equipment do you use?

Not everyone cares about the cameras or editing systems people use and in a sense, nor do I. As long as the equipment is up to date and fit for the purpose I don't feel it's necessary to list the equipment used. Suffice to say that like most things these days I use digital equipment from start to finish. I will mention, and I feel it appropriate, that I shoot on the widely used miniDV format. That said if you do require information on the any specific items of equipment I am more than happy to answer questions.

How much will it cost?

As I've already said, projects can vary greatly; for example some require large amounts of planning (pre-production) and some may take less time to edit (post-production). Because individual projects have different sets of requirements I will only produce a cost for a project by quoting against the requirements of a set brief. With respect to any questions arising about this or any other aspect of my services or this site please don't hesitate to contact me via the contact section.

What is the finished format?

The most popular format is DVD because of the obvious advantages when compared to other, especially analogue formats. Depending on how your video is to be used final output could also either be on VHS, miniDV or CD. Videos can also be produced to be used on the internet.
